Claude Puel disappointed with stalemate against Bordeaux
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 tactician, Claude Puel Rues, is clearly disappointed with his side’s performance in the goalless draw against Girondins De Bordeaux at Stade de Gerland on Sunday.
Les Gones had the perfect chance to climb to the third spot in the league table when they faced Bordeaux in front of their home crowd, but the home side failed to capitalise on the opportunity. OL bagged a point in this match; consequently, they dropped
to sixth place in the league table. The manager was disappointed with his side for not finding the net despite creating numerous goal-scoring chances.
Lyon manager said, "Obviously it's not good business for accounting purposes, but inside, I noticed a sharp rise compared to our last two outings against a good Bordeaux team with a lot of physical density and quality, which has regained a lot of consistency.
In our moments, it is a pity not to have opened the scoring. In this kind of confrontation, we know that it is played on details. If we had addressed our two previous matches in the same way, there would have been a different outcome”.
The home side are having trouble regaining their rhythm ever since the Ligue 1 action resumed following the winter break. They have played three matches, won one, drawn one, and lost one. Puel will have to improvise his tactics if he wants his team to claim
good results in the remaining fixtures of the season, as Les Gones are desperately hunting for a UEFA Champions League.
Puel was confident that his team deserved more than a point, despite their failure to capitalise on a number of scoring chances. Bordeaux managed to create opportunities in the second period to put the game away from the home side, but they also failed to
find the net.
Team tactician said, “It is a pity not to have managed to open the scoring in our moments. It was a difficult match. It's played on a few things and we missed out on some success in the first period”.
Puel believes that his side can achieve better results in the coming days. With 16 games left to play, Lyon has a good chance of catching up the league leaders OSC Lille.
Les Gones will clash on with, AS Saint-Etienne, next week in a crucial game. Puel will be hoping to thrash the home side – the home side have 35 points and ties with the visitors in the point tally – to improve their league standings. The 49-year-old tactician
knows the importance of this fixture and he will be looking to bag all three points in this match for his side.
