Claude Puel still waiting to hear decision on his allegations at Olympique Lyonnais – Ligue 1 news
Former Olympique Lyonnais manager Claude Puel is still waiting to hear the final verdict of the jury at the Labour Court. The Frenchman was sacked in the early days of the summer transfer window by Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas following Lyon’s failure
to win any trophies during Puel’s three years in charge of the Rhone giants.
However, Puel still had one year left on his contract and took the case to court demanding a total of 4.9 million Euros which is the total amount in salaries of the last year of his contract at Stade Gerland.
The case was taken to the Labour Court last month and on Thursday (September 15, 2011), the Labour Court decided to start a new hearing on the case on November 10th after the dispute between the two parties failed to settle.
While President Jean-Michel Aulas and the complainant (Claude Puel) were missing from the hearing, both parties’ lawyers were present and went blow to blow during a heated session at the Labour Court.
Aulas’ lawyer said, “This (hearing) is a waste of time for everyone. All those who attended the hearing may have noticed the incongruity of the requests that are submitted and surpising character of the arguments.”
Mr. Reiss, lawyer of Claude Puel took the opportunity to highlight the financial matters and demanded 4.9 million Euros in severance pay. Puel wants 3.3 million Euros in salaries for the remaining year of his contract and is further demanding 1.6 million
euros in damages which his lawyer termed as ‘moral and professional damages’ in the labour court.
Jean-Michel Aulas has so far refused to pay the demanded amount . with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 currently going through a financially difficult period, Aulas will try his best to do whatever he can in order to save the club a considerable amount of money.
The club spent nearly 5 million euros in this summer’s transfer window and it would be ironical if they are asked by the Labour Court to pay Puel the severance pay.
