The 51-year-old feels that Les Aiglons need to improve considerably if they want to achieve their targets this season after seeing Le Gym draw a stalemate against AS Saint-Etienne on Saturday
Nice failed to nick all three points against an average looking Saint-Etienne side at the weekend and settled for a 1-1 draw at Stade Municipal http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Du-c11689 Ray.
With just 9 points on the table, Nice are 15th in the league after the end of Week 9, and coach, Claude Puel, feels that his side could have won the match had they converted their chances on the pitch.
While talking to reporters at a press conference after the match, the Frenchman stated that it was a great game of football and everyone enjoyed watching it. It was a lively match and it’s sad to see the game ending in a draw.
“I think we got to see a great Ligue 1 match tonight, a lot of rhythm, a lot of quality and a lot of chances, it was very lively.”
The 51-year-old added that his side played brilliantly on the pitch and they created a number of chances but failed to score more, which is a bit frustrating. However, the coach is pleased with his side’s overall display and has urged the players to continue
playing with such confidence in the upcoming games.
“We did our best to construct passages of play and I'm satisfied with the match my lads played, but frustrated by the result. We didn't capitalise when we had the chance to score the winner.”
The former Lyon coach said that Nice need more points on the table and players need to perform well to achieve that feat. The coach added that his side played with great concentration against ASSE but they lacked the required aggression.
Puel has asked Les Aiglons to be more aggressive in the upcoming games in order to get maximum points.
“We need points, we need to keep working well and maintain this positive frame of mind. Our concentration was good at the start, but we weren't aggressive enough. We need to be more effective and force matches to go our way."
