Claude R. McGaughey’s charge Boisterous eyeing the prize in the Arlington Handicap
Boisterous, is the one to beat in the Grade 3 $200,000 Arlington Handicap, scheduled to take place at Arlington Park on 14th July, 2012.
Running over a distance of 1 ¼ miles, it seems that, Boisterous would be the one to land this event. With rider Alan Garcia on his back, he will race as a high-weight of 112 pounds.
Trained by Claude R. McGaughey for Ogden Mills Phipps of the Phipps Stable, the five-year-old comes to the track in winning form. The fact that the race is taking place on grass will also benefit the runner since, he has prior experience on turf.
This season, the Kentucky bred runner landed a brilliant victory in the Grade 3 Fort Marcy Stakes at Belmont Park. With the help of rider Alan Garcia and his swift pace, he completed the 1 1/16 mile course in 1 minute and 44.89 seconds and, defeated
Chad Brown’s charge, Desert Blanc, whereas the third place was secured by Top Surprize.
In his most recent start, the son of Distorted Humor, out of mare Emanating stood third in the Grade 1 Manhattan Handicap at Belmont Park. Coupled with Garcia again, he tried his best but, fell short as the victory was notched by Desert Blanc, who
was seeking revenge.
Mister Marti Gras, son of Belong to Me, out of mare Miss Marta, is also looking for a solid finish in this race. Currently under the training of Chris M. Block for the Lothenbach Stables, the runner-up delivered a decent performance when he finished
second to, Hunters Bay, in the Grade 3 Eclipse Stakes at Woodbine on 26th May, 2012.
The line-up also includes Mister Marti Gras’s stable-mate Mavericking, who will be ridden by Timothy Thornton.
This race serves as final local prep for the Grade 1 Arlington Million Stakes, scheduled to take place on 18th August, 2012.

If Boisterous manages to claim a victory or a placed finish in this race, he will earn a free entry into the Arlington Million and his starting fee will be waived.
