Claudio Lotito confirms he rejected Edy Reja’s resignation from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 post: Serie A news
Lazio President, Claudio Lotito, has revealed that he rejected the resignation of manager, Edy Reja, after defeat at the hands of Genoa over the weekend.
Lazio lost 2-1 to the Rossoblu in the second game of the 2011/12 Serie A season at the Stadio Olimpico Rome on September 18, 2011. Reja was unhappy with the fan’s behaviour towards him after the defeat as they booed him and his
players.
Lotito confirmed that the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 manager was very disturbed with the fan’s behaviour and wanted to leave the club but he declined his resignation and has convinced him to stay. The President also called the players for an
emergency meeting and urged them to give their full support to the manager.
The Patron added that Reja is very important to the team as he is the symbol of the club for him. The Biancazzurri have picked up only one point from their opening two games of the season so far and the tactician has urged the
fans to be patient as there is long way to go as far as the season is concerned.
Reja said, “It’s true; I did not accept the resignation and would not let the Coach go. As long as I am the President, the Coach will be untouchable."
“He is very disappointed at the negative climate that has been created around him despite the fact he is a man who has given a great deal to Lazio. I wanted to call the squad together so we can all close ranks around the Coach
and he knows the club and players are with him. We will all begin again from Wednesday’s game with Cesena.”
The Biancocelesti will take on Cesena in their next league game at Stadio http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dino-c11319 Manuzzi on September 21, 2011.
Reja joined as the manager of the Rome based side in 2010 and helped the club to finish fifth in the league table in his debut season. The manager has made several reinforcements to the squad this summer and is looking to guide his team to UEFA Champions
League finish.
