The Azzurri captured the Coppa Italia trophy with a 2-0 win over the Old Lady. The defeat at the hands of the Partenopei, not only barred the Bianconeri from complementing their Scudetto with another trophy, but also marked their
first defeat of the 2011-12 campaign.
Marchisio was caught by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salvatore-Aronica-c32276 in a contentious confrontation, which could have cost the Azzurri a penalty, but the incident was ignored by the referee.
The Bianconeri midfielder believes that Juventus deserved a penalty for the foul against him, and stated that the missed penalty combined with the one awarded to the Partenopei changed the game.
While talking to the press, the 26-year-old said:
“It was a clear penalty. Then they got their penalty and that, on the other hand, changed the game.”
Both teams remained goalless in the first-half, but the second-half saw the Partenopei score two goals to take the game away from the Old Lady.
Marchisio admitted that Juventus got off to a lazy start, and insisted that the defeat in the Italian Cup final is a big disappointment for the team.
The Bianconeri midfielder stated that after the Scudetto triumph, the Old Lady wanted a perfect finish to the season with Coppa Italia success, but were denied by a defeat at the hands of Napoli.
The Vecchia Signora playmaker stated that despite the defeat, they have performed wonderfully throughout the season, and insisted that the players deserve all the appreciation for their remarkable performances.
“We got off to a bit of a sluggish start. It’s a real shame as we wanted to end this unbelievable season in the perfect way. We’ve developed and gained confidence on a game by game basis. Everyone should be congratulated for this.”
Marchisio is also a part of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 squad for the Euro 2012, and will join his Italian international colleagues in a week’s time.
