Claudio Marrero, an emerging name to be feared in WBC featherweight division – Boxing news
Claudio Marrero, the current WBC featherweight title holder, says he aims to become the WBC world champion in due time and his current victory and grasping of the WBC FECARBOX featherweight title is a milestone in his young flourishing career.
The 22-year-old, who hails from Dominican Republic, made these comments while giving a short interview to a reputable boxing channel. On January 7, 2012, Claudio was in the ring with Francis Ruiz as his opponent on the other corner of the ring. The bout
was meant to decide the rightful owner of the vacant WBC FECARBOX featherweight title.
The fight started and swiftly ended after 1 minute and 18 seconds of the second round, since the 31-year-old Francis was knocked out vehemently by the rising boxing star, Claudio. From that day onwards, the media sealed its eyes and concentration on the
Dominican who is now the featherweight title owner.
Claudio’s promoter Henry Rivalta declared his young pounder as currently the best pugilist at 126-pound weight. The Dominican gets spars alongside Shannon Briggs, the two-time world champion, and this aspect has literally helped him in increasing his speed,
punching ability and efficiency.
Herman Caicedo is the proud trainer of this talented boxer who has already made people notice his abilities. The southpaw before putting his feet in the pro career underwent a whopping 300 bouts and won various championships, accolades, and laurels while
boxing as an amateur.
A glance at his recent fight against the 31-year-old Francis Ruiz clearly shows that a future champion resides deep in his chest and punches. The way he targets his opponents face and the speed of his punches prove that he might become the Floyd Mayweather
of near future. He has been in 10 bouts and since the inception of his career is riding proudly on a winning streak.
The fierceness of the young guns punches is evident from his number of knockout wins. Claudio has collected a total 9 wins by knockout and none of his opponents had been able to stand in front of him for more than four rounds. Francis Ruiz was not an easy
contender for the vacant title he tried to give his 10-year younger opponent a hard time.
However, the extraordinary agility, his impressive foot work, resilience, and above all the ability to generate maximum punches in the least time are the aspects that make the Dominican Republic’s sixth best featherweight lethal.
While giving an interview to the young pounder excitedly said that he is lucky to have an experienced trainer with him. He added that the most important aspect in his training is, sparring with Shannon. Claudio said that Shannon is a former two-time world
champion and this makes him more effective and experienced when it comes to giving advice.
Claudio happily shared his feelings that his relationship with all of his people, the trainer, promoter and Shannon is helping him out in winning bouts and in increasing his boxing skills and talent. El Matrix is definitely one of the best emerging boxers
and the featherweight division must fear him as his punching speed supersedes the blink of an eye.
