Claudio Ranieri believes Carlo Ancelotti should remain http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager next season – EPL news
Former Chelsea manager, Claudio Ranieri, has insisted that the club should hang onto current manager Carlo Ancelotti despite a potentially trophy less 2010/11 season. He showed his support for the Italian and claimed that the former AC Milan manager is doing
a great job.
Chelsea started the season brilliantly and looked certain to retain the English Premier League title but a series of poor results meant that Manchester United leapfrogged them into first place on the standings table.
The Blues are currently in second place and are three points behind United as both sides play at Old Trafford on Sunday and the clash is being widely regarded as the title decider.
Ranieri praised Ancelotti and backed him to remain the Chelsea manager next season. He insisted that the former Milan manager won the domestic double with the Londoners last year which was the first time in the club’s history and considered it a major achievement.
“I don’t know if he has to win the title to stay at Chelsea. I think Ancelotti is doing a very good job - you can’t win everything every year. Last year, he won the Double. Nobody had done the Double at Chelsea before. Ancelotti is a great coach - he has
proved it over the years. I hope he is given the chance to stay at Chelsea and win more trophies in the future,” the Italian was quoted as saying.
The former Juventus manager also admitted that the side winning the fixture on Sunday at Old Trafford will go on to win the Premier League title. He insisted that both teams have quality players and are capable of achieving the feat.
“If Chelsea win, they will win the Premier League. They have a lot of strong players capable of going to Old Trafford and getting a result. But United have a lot of strong players as well. There are fantastic players on both sides,” Ranieri concluded.
There is speculation that Carlo Ancelotti would leave the London-based club at the end of the season to take over the managerial reins at AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603, but nothing is certain for now.
