The 60-year-old acknowledges critics’ right to express their opinion; however, he was of the view that criticism led to nervousness within the inexperienced players.
The Inter Milan boss has come under great pressure from various circles on his side’s performance in the Serie A.
Ranieri opined that there are many youngsters in his team who need support, and being critical of them at the start of their respective career succumbs them to pressure.
During his interview, the former AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 boss said:
“It is important to support the young players, if you mess up at San Siro there is now immediately a buzz. Experienced players do not think about it, but younger people can get lost.”
The tactician insists that all http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 games and every selection choice was coming under scrutiny. He stated that the players are committed to the team, and everyone wants to stay and make the “Inter project” successful.
However, he also said that his team was in a state of transition, with some key players leaving the San Siro in the previous transfer windows.
When asked about the team selection for the upcoming matches, Ranieri had good things to say about a few players. However, the Italian remarked that there were mixed opinions about involving youngsters in the team, and their performances
come under the microscope too much to his comfort.
However, Ranieri also believes that the youngsters need to make their impact in the team to justify their selection.
“Whether or not their input is strong, it takes time to see what they can really do. This applies to [Ricky] Alvarez. [Mauro] Zarate does great things but still cannot get going, he is a little anarchistic, I’m already doing somersaults
trying to shape a team.” He remarked.
Ranieri will be hoping for a change in his team’s fortunes, as they have not won a game in their last five matches in all competitions. The Nerazzurri will host Bologna on Friday, February 17, 2012.
The former Italian Champions are placed 5th in the league table.
