The Inter boss, whose slipping side has been a subject of a lot of criticism, admits that he is duty-bound to include the Dutchman in the Nerazzurri starting line-up.
Claudio Ranieri has reflected on the fact that Wesley Sneijder’s return from injury has not been the most auspicious for Inter Milan.
The tactician insists that the Dutchman’s presence ruins the 4-4-2 formation that yielded Inter Milan seven consecutive victories in Serie A recently.
Almost a week after the defeat to Bologna, the Nerazzurri boss is still struggling to fit in the returning Dutchman in his slumping side. He admits that he is not looking at a solution that does not include the Dutchman, as he
forced to select him.
While talking to the reporters, Ranieri said:
“Sneijder not a problem but a solution, yet at the right time.”
The former AS Roma coach has maintained that it is the duty of a coach to include his top players in the playing team. Ranieri, however, insisted that he had anticipated the problem long before and was hopeful of finding a solution.
“At the beginning of this run I said the good part and the hard part was starting – good because we had to integrate some top players into a perfect machine, hard because you couldn't hide the fact that the team had a few problems.”
The veteran tactician had put the Nerazzurri back on track after winning seven consecutive games following a dreadful start to the campaign,. However, La Beneamata have only managed a single victory from their last seven games.
Ranieri has urged his team to improve their form, as there is still some time before the season ends.
“We need to find the humility again to do well. Nothing is over, now we're going to take on Marseille and we can still pick ourselves up to finish off the season well.”
Inter Milan will face Olympique Marseille in the first-leg of the UEFA Champion’s League last 16 round on Wednesday February 22.
