Claudio Ranieri quits as Roma manager after fourth straight lose in the Italian Serie A
Claudio Ranieri has resigned as the Roma manager after the club suffered their fourth consecutive defeat against Genoa in the Serie-A. The visitors threw away a three-goal lead against Genoa to eventually lose 4-3 at the Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferrari. Rodrigo
Palacio and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alberto-Paloschi-c4338 scored a brace each to inspire the home side in one of the most stunning comebacks in Serie-A history.
The Italian manager was under pressure after a series of disappointing results including losses to rivals Napoli and Inter Milan in the league and a shock defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA Champions League in the recent weeks. The Italian has had a
poor season with his club out of the title race in the Serie-A and almost on the verge of being knocked out in the UEFA Champions League.
Ranieri said that it was the right time to go and that he had always tried to improve the club. He added that the decision was for the good of everybody involved. "I've always thought about the good of Roma and after a game such as today's I believe it's
right to give a signal. After the final whistle I went into the changing rooms to thank the team and I decided to hand in my resignation,” said the former Chelsea manager.
Ranieri was under fire in the days before the match when approximately 200 fans protested at Roma’s training ground demanding an exit for the former Juventus boss. At the time, the manager stood and insisted that he will not resign and the club supported
him but the result at Genoa left no other option.
Claudio Ranieri joined Roma in September 2009 after Luciano Spalletti resigned. At that time Roma were at the bottom of the table but they showed striking form under Ranieri and fought for the Serie-A title for most of the season, eventually losing it to

The 2010-11 season started rather poorly for the club as they achieved their first victory in their fifth match. Roma have never looked like the team they were last season and currently sit in eighth place with 39 points, suffering eight defeats already.
The Giallorossi are surely out of the title race and the UEFA Champions League and the qualification for the next year’s premier European competition also looks unlikely as rivals http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 have been a strong force this season.
Roma is also up for sale because of the financial situation of the club. Carlo Ancelotti looks set to be the new http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager’s job is in danger after the Londoners lost to Everton in the FA Cup
which means they will not be able to defend the title.
