The Inter Milan boss has sidelined questions about his resignation following the defeat to Bologna, and is aiming to bounce back strongly.
Inter Milan’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Bologna has raised questions about Claudio Ranieri’s future at San Siro.
The manager apologized to the fans and the club President, at the press conference following the home defeat. Ranieri insisted that his side played well but luck did not favour them.
“In one minute we conceded two goals after going so close ourselves. We concede at the first mistake.” added the Nerazzurri boss
The former Roma boss has insisted that the horizon was not all dark for Inter, as they took some positives from the game.
“We had found a balance and tactical unity that was truly exceptional, but we lost it and now have to discuss which is the best solution.”
Ranieri might still have confidence in himself but the faith put in him by the club bosses seems to be slipping away. Inter President, Massimo Moratti, was reported to have walked out at half-time when his side conceded two goals.
Inter have lost five of their last six games in all competitions, and it has put Ranieri’s future at San Siro under serious threat.
In his after match talk with the press, Ranieri also pointed out at tactical dilemma he has to face with Wesley Sneijder,
“He should be our extra man behind the striker, but when I see we have trouble then I send him out wide so he can play without having to win back the ball. That forces me to readjust the whole team. We’ll have to see what we can
do.”
The Dutchman’s return from injury has not been the most auspicious for Ranieri, probably due to his presence ruining the 4-4-2 formation that yielded Inter Milan seven consecutive victories in Serie A recently.
Ranieri admitted that the club is going through a tough time, and the team is also under great pressure after back to back defeats. The tactician also maintains that he will not give up and is willing to get the club out of the
turmoil.
La Beneamata are gearing up for an away game with Olympique Marseille in the UEFA Champions league round of 16 on Wednesday, February 22.
