Reports in French media claim that former AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 manager, Claudio Ranieri is on the verge of signing a contract with Ligue 2 side AS Monaco as the club’s new coach.
The Italian tactician was sacked from his post as the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan manager earlier this season and had been looking for a new challenge since then. Recently, the Monegasque club sacked Marco Simone from his position as the head coach. Simone was appointed as the club’s coach last year but failed to guide the club back to Ligue 1 football following their relegation after a dismal 2010/2011 Ligue 1 campaign.
However, winds of change are blowing in Monaco especially after Rybolovlev bought the club last year. The ambitious oligarch is keen on making AS Monaco the next big thing in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 and wants the club to quickly return to top level French football.
Sky Italia claims that Ranieri is already in Monaco and negotiating a contract with the club’s direction.
Reports now claim that Ranieri is all set to become the new manager of AS Monaco as the two sides are about to reach an agreement in which Ranieri will be signing a multi-year contract.
Ranieri had an unhappy experience with Inter Milan and was sacked just a few months after his arrival.
Originally from Rome, the 60-year-old has managed the likes of AS Roma, Juventus, Chelsea and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 during his time and could be the right man for the job at Monaco.
Monaco made a terrible start to Ligue 2 football last season but under the guidance of Simone, came quite close to making a swift return to Ligue 1 football.
It is expected that should Ranieri sign a deal with Monaco, his first task would be to guide the club back to Ligue 1 football.
