Koln striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukas-Podolski-c22896, might be on his way out of the club at the end of the 2011/12 season despite enjoying decent goal scoring form.
Podolski has had an impressive campaign until now, but has often complained of lack of support upfront. Consequently, the player has expressed his desire to part ways with the Billy Goats and is looking to join a foreign club.
The striker has attracted huge interest from abroad, and several Premier League and La Liga clubs are interested in his signature. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 are all keen on his signing.
However, the Billy Goats bosses have assured the striker that they will sign a couple of world-class players in the upcoming transfer window.
Horstmann is confident that Podolski will honour his contract at the club which runs until 2013. He claims that the 26-year-old will find things easier at the club when Bundesliga action resumes in January, 2012.
The Director is confident that the former Bayern Munich star will put pen to paper in the near future.
While talking to Kolner Stadt-Anzeiger, the Director further added:
“The fundamentals are clear: Podolski has a year-and-a-half left on his contract and we want to go into the talks at an early stage - with the aim of extending this contract. For Podolski, I'm optimistic that we have the chance
[to re-sign him].”
On the other hand, Horstmann confirmed that Podolski has good relations with the club’s Sporting Director, Volker Finke. The chief has advised the player to have trust in Finke, as he admires Podolski a lot and wants to build his
team around the German international.
"The two don’t have to love each other but they must respect each other and trust each other. And I have the impression that this is the case.” He concluded.
Podolski has bagged 14 goals from 16 appearances so far this season, and is in contention to win the Golden Boot award.
