The FC Koln general manager lamented his team’s loss to Augsburg which has pushed the club into the relegation zone.
FC Koln general manager, Claus Horstmann, has expressed his anger at his team’s loss to FC Augsburg at the weekend. The two teams met on Saturday, March 31, at the SGL arena with the hosts wining 2-1. Koo Ja-Cheol and Nando Rafael
scored goals for the winners while http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukas-Podolski-c22896 bagged a consolation for the visitors.
Horstmann stated that he is in no mood to listen to excuses from his players. He mentioned that his team were poor on the night and not up to standards despite knowing that it was a must-win game for the Billy Goats. He showed
his disappointment after his side was unable to make the best use of their opportunities, especially in the first period.
While talking to sportinglife.com, the General Manager further added: "I cannot hear this rubbish from the players anymore. They had the chance to show over 90 minutes that they would do everything they could to get a point or
more from here.”
On the other hand, Horstmann reserved praise for his goalkeeper Michael Rensing, who tried his level best to save his side from dropping points in a crunch encounter. He insisted that every other individual failed to give their
best and has called for improvement in Koln’s next game against Werder Bremen.
"Only (goalkeeper) http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-Rensing-c25366 made a few excellent saves, otherwise the whole team was catastrophic. After what has happened here, we need to discuss the situation in peace and quiet with all of those involved to enable us
to make the right decision," Horstmann concluded.
There were rumours after the game that Cologne bosses have sacked manager, Stale Solbakken, following the club’s poor results in their last few outings. However, the claims have been rejected and Solbakken will stay at the club
until the end of this season.
Koln are now 16th in the league standings with 28 points and will next be up against the River Islanders on Saturday, April 7.
