Clay at Roland Garros?

Is the clay at Roland Garros much faster than it has been in past years? I have heard some commentators refer to it playing faster. If so, does anyone think Rafa may have more difficulties winning? HOPE NOT!!!

  1. yes, but still i can see rafa can handle it..

he won Hamburg before going to RG which many says that it has the fastest clay in all tours..

  2. Yes, that's what some commentators said.  But I don't think Rafa will have any problems.  I honestly think making the clay faster at Roland Garros, or making the grass slower at Wimbledon is absolutely ridiculous. There are reasons for different surfaces in tennis. If they try to keep making all the surfaces alike, why not just pave over the grass and clay and make them all medium speed hardcourts.

Let the players adjust to the surface, not adjust the surface to the players. This whole making the surface faster or slower just don't make any sense to me.

  3. On day one and two the clay was "faster" because of the dry climate there.  However, now that there has been rain the last two days, it has picked up alot of the moisture and is more stable.

The same is true for the ball.

  4. Rafa has proven that he can play in any kinda clay.He won Hamburg[mind u, clay at Hamburg is faster than at MC,Rome and RG], beating Djoker and Federer back-to-back.
