Clayton Kershaw’s pitching helps Los Angeles Dodgers defeat Los Angeles Angels 3-2 – MLB Updates

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ starter Clayton Kershaw crushed the Los Angeles Angels batting line-up to take his club into a 3-2 win to avoid the sweep in the third outing of the three-game interleague series at Dodger Stadium, on Sunday, June 26.
Kershaw did not disappoint the fanning eleven and ended his Sunday with his second-best strike-out this season to help his club to avoid being swept for the second time at home and fourth time this season. Kershaw took out eleven batters allowing just two
runs each in the seventh and the ninth inning.
Kershaw’s eighth win not only improved his own record to 8-3 with 2.93 ERA but also helped the Dodgers snap their six-straight home losses against the Angels. Eleven strike-outs in this game took the 23-year-old lefty to first position in National League
with 128 in his 17th game in 2011.
"We needed a win," Kershaw said. "It's awesome any time you walk off. Tony came up huge. You go from the bottom to the top real fast. That is the awesome thing about this game. A big swings of emotion, for sure."
The Angels’ starter Jered Weaver also tossed exceptional pitching and the club was optimistic to take their consecutive series sweeps at the Dodger stadium. However, Weaver could not carry his momentum in the seventh inning despite his fellow batter Howard
Kendrick had provided a 1-0 lead and readily allowed the Dodgers to tie it in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Angels again achieved a lead in the ninth inning when Vernon Wells, a three-time Gold Glove winner, launched his ninth homer of the season and took his club into a 2-1 lead. However, his closer Jordan Walden could not prevent him from allowing two game defeating
runs in the bottom of this inning and the Dodgers managed to shatter their losing streak.
Aaron Miles flied out to centre, pinch-hitter Dee Gordon stretched his legs on a throw, from the centre fielder Peter Bourjos, which was just a second late and Gordon was declared safe.
"He called him safe and he was out. But you can't hang your hat on an umpire's call," Angels’ manager Mike Scioscia said. "You need to be good enough and play at a high enough level to be able to absorb a bad break here and there or an umpire's call. But
we also walked two guys to set up that situation."
In the very next at-bat Tony Gwynn stepped up, looking to end with his first three hits performance of the season, bringing his club a 3-2 win.
