parts of Isla Verde are nice, and Ocean Park has already been mentioned.

Luquillo is n't too far from San Juan and is AMAZING

shacks beach near aguadilla. not real close to san juan but its only a couple hours drive + toll moneys. well worth it if you like snorkling or just want some secluded sand.

best beach in san juan is ocean park and the beach is farily clean .... most locals go to ocean park

no...you're best bet is isla verde or ocean park. do not go to luquillo or any beach in pinones, they are all nasty.

my fave beach in puertorico is Cana Gorda, more by Ponce. it is more wild, and more of a surfer's place, and in my opinion, more "natural" and beautiful.
