  1. I get mine dry cleaned.

  2. Depends upon what type of saddle pad you have.  That's why over the decades there's only been one pad that I buy and use.  Coolbacks!  You can use them and then take them home throw 'em in your washer and dryer and they are good as new the next day.  I say that still having my original 34 year old Coolback that I still use.

When buying a saddle pad I look for two things:  Comfort for my horse and ease of cleaning.  Since they haven't made canvas saddle pads since the 1960's, then the next easiest thing to have is the coolbacks.

I just posted this as another answer as well...

You could take your saddle pad to a dry cleaners and see if they can get it clean for you.

  3. A lot of the hair and stuff that is left over after washing comes out in the dryer. I know most pads say not to put them in the dryer, but I do anyway. I don't think it shortens their life span much, if any.

  4. Take them to a car wash.

Hang them on the carpet cleaner racks and blast them with the power wash.  It uses hot water and soap.  Then rinse with the cool water 'rinse.'  Take home and air dry.

This works wonders for mine, and will even clean off hair that is stuck to them.

  5. If they are white you can bleach them... otherwise idk just keep washing them the dirt should come out of them eventually.

  6. What I do, is take a rubber brush with thicker bristles and comb them out get as much hair as possible, and then I simply vaccum clean them. And then I use duct tape to remove and other hairs left and then I use Tide to wash them out. When I dry them, I drip them outside and stick them in the dryer for anout 10 minutes.

  7. Ive heard of someone taking theirs into a car wash. I found it funny, but im thinking about trying that. I buy wool lite and letting it soak in my bath tub. Though, the tub is really dirty afterwards, and it makes my mom really mad, haha. But after soaking, then let it sit in the sun out on your porch or something. It should work. Last year, i just bought a new one for my barn judging at fair. It saved energy. (:
