Question:

Clean sweat off of loveseat

My fiancee's parents gave us a loveseat that they owned for 10 years. They are very clean people, and don't let any animals on or near their furniture. I was very happy to finally have something to sit on in the livingroom. I went to lay down on it, and noticed the arms smell like really heavy sweat. They are also yellowish. My guess is that they laid their faces on the arms when they laid down. How do I clean this up?

Note: I'm borrowing my grandma's steamer "Toby," to refresh it, but I know it won't clean this thorougly. I also cannot remove the arms.

  1. use a "deep cleaning" type cleaner formulated for the steamer you will be using, should do the trick!

  2. Use a spray bottle, add 1/4 part vinegar to water and spray the fabric, use a absorbent cloth to soak it up, repeat until it is gone.  The vinegar smell will disappear within a few hours.  :-)
