Cleaning Business Help PLEASE!!!?

Question

I am a stay at home mom and I need some information on starting a cleaning business in NC. I have insurance and have started to get a priv. license. I need Bid forms and pricing examples. I charge $.05 per sq foot on residential cleaning but that is the only price I have established yet. Please let me know if you have any tips!! I have asked around this area for a mentor and no one seems to want to do that...I guess they are scared of a little competition maybe??? Thanks for any tips given!!!!!

A cleaning business-whether residential or office-is a terrific way to have a stable income. And you're smart to investigate before you try and get clients!

Spend less than $39 on a business cleaning kit that will give you the basic contracts, forms for estimates, bids, pricing charts and book-keeping, intro letters and other valuable tips.  It will save you time and money in the long run!  It's well worth the small amount charged.  I have a link in my Squidoo lens below.  The link takes you to an Office Cleaning page, but on that page you'll find a link for a kit just for residential cleaning business start ups!  I think that kit is a little cheaper than the office cleaning one, too!  Check it out.......

Start by contacting the Small Business Administration. They have lots of information and resources, and will get you started on a business plan.

Get a copy of a great little book called "The E-Myth". It explains why 90% of small businesses fail within the first five years and how to prevent it.

A point of reference - we have a housekeeper who cleans about 1700 sq.ft. once a week, takes three or four hours.  We pay her $65/wk.  It's supplemental income for her, though, not a primary job.
