Question:

Cleaning Old Suitcase

I recently purchased a metal suitcase from the seventies that has Snoopy all over it. It's slightly rusted, and the inside has a very musty smell. The inside is lined with paper, and it has some stains and damage to it. How can I get rid of the musty smell, clean off the rust from the outer portion of the suitcase, and clean it overall without damaging it?

  1. Love Snoopy and Woodstock!

For the musty smell, crumple up newspapers and put them inside the suitcase and close it.  Change the newspapers every day until the smell is gone.  For the outside, try using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser to gently clean off the rust - make sure to dry it well after you clean it so it won't rust more.  To keep it from rusting more you can spray it with clear (matte, not glossy) sealer.
