I have been cleaning for a few months now. mostly cleaning rental homes and apartments. and just started cleaning after contrsustion sites. not so much outside pick up, but deep cleaning the inside for people to move into different office units. i just finished an entire building with my parnter and it took us 8 hours. not bad for nearly 10,000 sqft. but i was wondering if anyone with this type of business had any tips to make the work easier on the back, knees, feet and hips. this was our first building cleaning and it was rough. maybe tips on what tools we should use. beside a mop, bucket, broom, vacuum. maybe if you have some makeshift tool that makes cleaning baseboards easier would be nice. any hint, tips, adivce is welcomed.

  1. tip for baseboards use a ball duster! for cleaning wood and tile floors we use the Bona system it is a mop handle and you attach micro fiber pads to it. we soak the pads in a bucket with 3 oz of cleaner (a gallon of this stuff goes a very long way and is very economical) and never use them twice so you are not transferring dirt from one area to the next (they are washable and we wash them with all the towels (white bar towels) we never use paper towel for anything. use good quality cleaning products it will make it easier. invest in some construction knee pads from the hardware store when scrubbing floors. we just bought a steamer  (around $100)and it is awesome for tile and hardwood, and laminate floors when the floors are disgusting follow through with a dry microfiber pad to eliminate streaks. the key is to get your cleints on a cleaning schedule, this will make it easier on both of you.

  2. Okay I just have a few tips that might make things a little easier on your body and cheaper for you. If you buy your own products you should use vinegar and water for windows mirrors etc.. I use that in a bucket with one of those squigee thing. You will never have streaks and you don't have to buy paper towel. Also you should buy one of those stand up dust pans with a handle. That will help with less bending. Just some tips!!
