The plastic blinds in my apartment won't come off and they need cleaning. What is the best way to do this, they are really dirty.

  1. I clean my blinds about twice a month without taking them down.  Of course it isn't as good as taking them down and is just as hard, but if they are bad and you like things clean it is worth it.  First vacuum the biggest part off, I use the attachment on my vacuum that is consider the dusting brush.  You have two options after that you can get a bucket of HOT water with  a good degreaser (try mean green or greased lighting) and wipe each individual blind. Or you can cover the floor and window sill with towels(especially easy if you don't have carpet) and but the cleaner in a spray bottle and spray the blinds and let it "melt" everything off and then go back and wipe. It isn't easy to clean blinds no matter what.  But before you go through the trouble I would really make sure they don't come off.  Usually there is SOME way to remove them for if they have to be replaced, it just may be hard. Best of luck!!

  2. I put some Pinesol in a pail of water and a rag, close the blinds and wipe the slats ,turn the blind's slats on the  outside position and repeat , dust them once a week and you're done!
