  1. Well, i have a few cats but the best way ive been able to keep up with the litter box , well i have 2 boxes and i clean all the poo and pee everday with a sturdy cat scraper, i may add a little more litter and i found this stuff at petco, its a powder mix that smells great, sprinkle it in the box. lts like powder consistancy. Then every couple of days i totally clean the boxes out back with soap and water, let them sit for a few in soapy water and then hose em out. you just gotta keep up with the kitty litter everyday and it;ll be so much easier on you.

  2. SORRY.......YOU HAVE NO CHOICE.  USE THE GARDEN HOSE AND NICE SMELLING PINE SOL.

I USE THOSE TUBS THAT YOU USE FOR PICNICS AND CONSTRUCTION TRASH BAGS. AND PUT THE KITTY LITTER IN THAT.

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LIFE THAT TRASH BAG OUT.  YOU CAN BUY A 25 POUND BAG AT WAL MART FOR $ 2.50.

GET THE SIZE OF CONTAINER AND TRASH BAG TO YOUR NEEDS.

    BEST OF LUCK !!!!

  3. I clean the litter pan everyday and was it out with the water hose.

  4. u can get the scooper and scrape it out or you can put some soap and water on it and rinse it out real good

  5. You can soak it in the sink with hot water and buy a hard handled scrubber just for this job.  (Wipe out with ammonia not bleach as this kills bacterial parasites that you may not know about)

Alternatively you can use cat liners that fit your box and if you change regularly enough they won't have put many scratches in it and not much will be on the bottom.  Some still goes through though and can get stained but it stops your immediate problem.

My personal preference though is to do away with both and buy a new inexpensive set with a new cat litter, please hear me out on this.

Yesterday I bought a largish set with a built in litter sieve, two trays and a top box which is supposed to help brush off the litter when they jump out. (2nd tray sits under whole box and you use it whilst cleaning the one you just sieved then put that one under, The sieve goes back in the clean box with the litter over it) It was only $15.99+tax from Petco and seems pretty cheap.

The secret to all this easy cleanup is that I use worlds best cat litter which clumps when they wee and nicely covers and naturally deoderizers when they p**p, when you pick up the seive the whole lot comes out in one and you can tip it in the toilet (even if you have a septic) saves landfill problems, messy clean-up and you can do it a couple of times a day wiping the dirty tray (which won't be that dirty with this litter) each time you do it.

People may say this litter costs too much but when you weigh up how much you actually use (throw away) compared to most litter which settles on the bottom, smells and has to all be thrown out together its probably cheaper.  Its also made from corn which is natural if they eat it whilst cleaning their paws and its not got all that dust that clay litter has.

    Hope this helps.

  6. get good litter that says it clumps, you will never have litter that sticks to the bottom, true story we use fresh step, it about 12 dollars for 30 pounds!

  7. i clean mine daily, with a scoop and then soap and water

  8. take soap and spread along the bottom of the pan and let it sit for a couple of minutes, than i would take it outside or get a scrub brush and brush it off

  9. the best bet is to scrape it off...  i have been told that if you spay something like pam or a cooking oil on it, once it's clean, that it works better, and less sticks to the bottom... but really, the only way to get it off the bottom is to scrape it off... i hope that helps....

  10. mix a bit of bleach w/ water in a spray bottle, spray the litter pan w/ it and let it sit for a few minutes. the bleach water will loosen the clumped litter and it should wash out no problem.

  11. for years i've been cleaning litter boxes and tried several different litters. no matter which litter i've used i've learned to sprinkle the bottom of the litter box with a product called 'pet fresh'- it contains baking soda and can be found with carpet fresh products. it has seemed to help make the job easier.  also, the type of litter you use could really make a difference. there are the clumping of course, but i have recently discovered (and highly recommend) a brand out there that is made from corn. low, low, low dust, good clump, not soapy odor and i believe it is even biodegradable.  sorry to say i don't have the name of it handy, i know more from the packaging... but check at any petsmart or petco and they should be able to direct you. i think that you might find this litter to be helpful with your cleanup. good luck.

  12. Get some HARD CLUMPING litter that helps ...

or they have litter pan liners that would fix the problem.

You just have to scrub... I use clothes washing soap which is stronger than dish soap...

Also I have a METAL scoop and that works fantastic gets everything up.

  13. Soap & water and a good scrub. They also have litter box wipes that you can use, as well.

  14. Of course - it's urine...and it will begin to smell.  You should be scraping the entire box when cleaning it out daily with the litter scooper, including the bottom.  You also need to have at least 3-4 inches of litter in the box and replace it as needed when you are removing the waste.  If you are cleaning the box correctly daily, you only need to do a complete litter change and box cleaning once a month. But you have to be vigilant and clean it well - and daily.  Ideally the scooper should be of hard plastic, not one of those cheapy ones that bend when there is a lot of waste in it.  Better to invest in a good one than replace a flimsy one five times.  Make sure you are cleaning the scooper well when you do the box.
