  1. Well, if it's a new tank, it usually will take a while to clear. Make sure that the area where ur lights r, like the plastic things arent all foggy so ur tank looks clearer. Also, u will want one of those magnet sponge things to clean the sides of the walls so it doesn't look murky. Also u could buy like $5 water clearing drops at the petsotre, or fish section at wal mart even. And a pleco ALWAYS helps keep it VERRY clean ;)

  2. Well this utterly depends on what type of Tank you have, a fish bowl (no heater, filter / air pump) or an Aquarium ( Filter, Heater, Other accessories)

If you just have a fish bowl, then using your fish net take your fish out from his house and place him in a bucket or large Pot. for the actually cleaning NEVER use any products other than an algae scrubber as most cleaning products contain soaps and detergents which can harm your fish. as for the gravel, only remove one third to 1/2 of the gravel at a time to clean as the bacteria in the gravel are use full to your fish. so take out the correct amount place it in a bowl under running luke warm water and stir continuously until the water coming from the bowl is clean and clear.

after that scrub all ornaments with the algae scrubber and arrange the bowl in a new way (fish like variety) and fill with water similar to that that the fish is currently in (in the bucket).

    As for A tropical aquarium.......

    this link should help...

but if you are doing partial water changes you should only need to clean the tank every 2-3 weeks =]

    Good luck!
