I have my golf clubs from a few years ago back in my hands. Unfortunately the shafts have small spots of rust all over them. What's the best and safest way at getting my clubs clean of rust? Heads and grips still fine. Thankyou.

  1. NEVER DULL. ITS KIND OF LIKE BRASSO WITHOUT THE MESS.

IT COMES IN A TIN AND HAS A COT TEN TEXTURE. YOU CAN ALSO USE BRILLO OR ACETONE.

  2. Get them replaced

  3. just buy new shafts

  4. just get new shafts I mean when they are rusted, there is nothing you can do about it except just get new shafts and this way you can still keep the heads.

  5. Fine steel wool will make them look new.

  6. I'll give you two ways to clean your shafts.

    1. The very cheap way. Mix two parts water and one part vinegar together, dip a clean cloth in the mixture and wipe down the shafts.

    2. A little more expensive way. Go to hardware store and get a small can of acetone, dip a clean cloth in the acetone and wipe down the shafts.

  7. First, take the rust spots off with steel wool.   Then, wash your shafts regularly with a mixture of kerosine and water.  A couple of tablespoons of kerosine to one gallon of water.  If you play along an ocean course (salt breezes), wash your clubs about once every 2 weeks, and make sure you wash to hosel area to make sure the salt doesn't get into the hosel.  If you play inland courses a once a month washing with kerosine and water will do just fine to prevent the rust from spreading.

  8. Shaft replacement may be more expensive that a new set, $200+ for a shop to do the work for you.

Go to an auto parts store, Auto Zone, Jegs, Advances Auto… get some chrome polish. It will remove the rust, and make the clubs look better and last longer. However, if you use the polish and still see nicks and marks on the shaft, they may be junk, use with caution.
