Question:

Cleaning out my house and need help?

I need help! I have a ton of things I neither want nor need, but don't want to throw away. Some things, such as knick-knacks and such, I probably would have a hard time selling on eBay or at a garage sale. I would be glad to give the stuff away to people who need it, but who needs ornaments? Any ideas of something to do with things like knick-knacks, books, etc?

  1. You might want to join FreeCycle.  It's free to join and all activity is conducted by e-mail.  They have groups in most cities (see link below).  They exist as a way to keep things out of landfills.  You just post an offer (or several offers), describe what you have, and wait for people to respond.  You'll probably get several responses, and you choose the person you want to have your items.  As the group's name suggests, all items have to be free to the recipient.

I've gotten rid of chandeliers, broken TV's, old computer equipment, etc.  I like it because you know someone who really wants your items is getting them.

You can also post "wants" once you're a member; so it's a good way to get items you can use for free.

  2. Check to see if there is a Goodwill store or Salvation Army in your area.... they accept just about anything and they will give you a tax write off... good luck
