Question:

Cleaning out the rat's cage?

I have a superpets brand cage with plastic levels.

It's nice, but the levels have these grooves that catch urine and droppings like a magnet. It's rather gross and I have to clean it out a couple times a day out of habit.

Any ideas?

  1. Clean it once a week (Scrub It HARD) and try not to clean it every day. Or put little pieces of news paper in the crack Then put the cage stuffing (or whatever that stuff is called) over the paper, then it shouldn't get cought there AS MUCH!

  2. I have that brand too.  you can try vacuuming it out.  I even went so far as to make my own liners for the different levels with some cloth, elastic bands and then some buttons to fasten...then I'd just remove the liners and wash them when they got too soiled.  You can then also use a garbage bag or buy liners for the bottom of the cage as well.
