  1. pretty easy. The Vista have a robust indexing filtering tool that xp don't have. First, click on the Start button and right on top of that button there is a Start Search box, type Disk, wait for a few nanoseconds, you will see the Disk-Cleanup utility, Disk Defragment, and other stuff. I believe this is what you are looking for. If you want to find any programs or documents on your computer, just type the names of that programs and documents. you will find it instantly and don't have to remember where you put those stuffs.

    Hope this help you.

  2. Simple, go to start menu, open all programs, click open accessories, and click on system tools.  There you will find disk defragment, disk clean up, backup configurations, system restore, and much more. Windows vista is set up a little differently than xp, but once you get used to it you'll never want to go back.
