Question:

Cleansing face properly?!?

Have had bad skin for years, want to consider how I clean my face to see if that helps. If I use a cleanser (milk, cream, lotion, gel, etc) it clogs my skin up something awful. But if I use a facial wash it doesn't clean enough. I've used the tea tree route, and just about every type/brand of cleanser you can get (not the department store types, though, I'm on a budget!). I'm 32, and wear makeup every day. My skin's not overly oily either, just seems to be blemish/clogged pore-prone. Any tips? Thanks in advance :)

  1. The soap you are using is probably making your condition WORSE….

First STOP using commercial skin care! GO ORGANIC or ALL NATURAL. I had rosacea (red blemishes on the cheeks) until I started using TEA TREE OIL organic soap from: www.SANDYCREEKSOAP.etsy.com ($3 a bar). It cleared it up in like a week.... and this was something I battled with for YEARS!!!! You can tell the difference right away (like the first time).  Most Dr.’s would prescribe a pill or a cream with more (or worse) side effects than the condition itself!

This place has TONS of "specialty" soaps for all kinds of skin problems...antifungal, antiseptic, ACNE, rosacea, psoriasis, rashes, poison ivy, oak and sumac, dandruff, fungal conditions, etc. It even works on problems you "can't explain".... If you don't see what you want ASK - they are SUPER helpful... even design a bar for your skin type based on your skin conditions - now that’s not something you find everyday....

You want/need HANDMADE or hand-milled soap made the old fashion way. If not them, then “someone” else who sells handmade organic. Their soaps has GLYCERIN in them (a natural moisture retainer). In STORE bought soap glycerin is sold for profit and replaced with chemicals like sodium lauryl sulfate which is listed in the encyclopedia as a skin irritant!!! I know, I couldn’t believe it either, but look it up! This chemical is found in like 98% of all STORE bought soaps. SCARY, HU? READ THE BACK! (Even the ones claiming to be natural or clean).

TRUTH be told.... most people DON'T CARE what they use (even if it is a chemical) as long as it smells good.... But long term condition counts!

Best of all they are CHEAP! Plus S&H is only $2, and I got my order in like 3 days.

Most eco friendly products are so expensive you can’t AFFORD to save the world. Hope this helped....

PS they also have something called acne tonic that might work (It did for me!)

  2. I doubt that a facial wash isn't cleaning your face enough.  Your skin should never be "squeaky clean."  Certainly not in the same way the rest of your body should be.  As long as all the makeup is coming off at night, it's clean enough.  If you aren't moisturizing, that's probably your problem. By not moisturizing and using a milk or cream cleanser (designed for drier skin), if your skin is slightly oily, you would be exacerbating the problem.  By not moisturizing and using a gel or foaming cleanser, you could be drying your sklin out to the point that it overproduces oil, causing breakouts.

When you wash your face at night try this:

    Remove your eye makeup.

Wash with a gentle cleanser, like Neutrogena Extra Gentle, if your makeup is heavy, you can wipe it off with tissues.

Tone with Neutrogena Alcohol Free Toner.  Toner basically preps your skin for moisturizer.

    Apply eye cream.

Then use one of Neutrogena's Oil Free Moisturizers.

  3. There's a knock-off version of ProActiv that you can get at the drug store called Acne Free.  Not overly expensive and there's a multi-step system that you can get for severe acne.  It worked liked a charm for me, but you do have to be really about washing your face every day.  Also, give your skin a break from makeup until you get the acne under control.  After that, use oil free makeup or makeup that's designed for oily skin.

  4. Use this trick it works for me:

1st use Clean and clear oxygenating fizz clenser

2nd use clean and clean micro scrubber clenser

then pat dry with a towel, if it dosent work do this:

    1st Neutragena wave deep cleaner

    2nd St. ives mineral mask.

If worst comes to worst get a acne clearing facial at the spa, it is a bit pricey not overly though, but it does work, i've heard

    Hope this helps!

  5. It's probably not the cleanser, but the moisturizer that is the problem. Try to use oil free products and lay off the make-up until you get it cleared up. If you can't find anything in the drug store, you may want to see a dermatologist because you risk scarring.
