  1. I OWN A BODY SHOP.  SOMETIMES SCRATCHES IN CLEARCOAT CAN BE BUFFED OUT, BUT IF THEY ARE DEEP ENOUGH THAT YOU CAN FEEL THE SCRATCH WITH YOUR FINGERNAIL THEN 99.9% OF THE TIME THE DAMAGED CLEARCOAT NEEDS TO BE REPAINTED AND RECLEARCOATED. AND IF THE DAMAGE IS CLOSE TO ANOTHER PANEL,  LIKE WITHIN A FOOT OR SO, THE ADJACENT PANEL MAY ALSO HAVE TO BE PARTIALLY PAINTED AND FULLY CLEARCOATED TO ASSURE ACCURATE COLOR MATCH. YOU COULD BE LOOKING AT $400 - $500 DEPENDING ON JUST WHERE THE DAMAGE IS. IF IT IS ON THE BUMPER, IT MIGHT BE ABLE TO BE SPOT REFINISHED FOR ABOUT HALF THAT AMOUNT. GOOD LUCK.
