Clear piercing retainer???

Okay, I pierced my ear 3-4 months ago and I have a field hockey game this weekend. During games you're not allowed to wear any jewelery and the refs make sure to check your ears. So I bought a clear retainer, but I've heard that in a newer piercing it can cause an infection. I use a clear retainer for my lip ring all the time and haven't had any problems. I was wondering if I should just use the retainer out or if I've had the piercing long enough to just take out the earring. Please help!!

3-4 months should be plenty of time. I would expect that unless you have any problems with it now, it is already healed.

It should cause no problems. Make sure that you clean the retainer and your hands first! :)
