Clearwater Masters all set to tee off from Thursday – Asian Development Tour
Second event of the Asian Development Tour event of Clearwater Masters will tee off tomorrow. The four-day championship will be hosted at the exquisite par-72, Clearwater Sanctuary
Golf Resort, Perak. The total prize-money sanctioned by the sponsor is US$75,000.
This is the event in which all the young emerging players are participating. They will feature in the field as the young rising professionals of Asia will look forward to win a
championship. The local lad, Akhmal Tarmizee, is confident of putting up a great show as the tournament commences.
Tarmizee recently was disqualified during the first round of the Indonesian Masters. He played a wrong ball during the first day and disqualified himself from the championship.
Through this, he clearly showed his honesty with the sport.
Now, he is hoping for some redemption in his home country. This is his second year playing as a professional. He earned his Asian Tour card last year as he finished among the top
three on Asian Development Tour Order of Merit list. He also looked confident during his practice round and is upbeat about his chances in this championship.
The young Malaysian has struggled after he received his Asian Tour card. He played in three tournaments, but failed to make it through the cutline score. The youngster was a bit
disappointed from his performance as he now is hoping for a comeback. This will be a confidence booster for the youngster if he secures a victory in front of his home crowd.
Akhmal said about the disqualification, “It was disappointing what happened last week. I teed off from the 10th tee and after the turn I hit my tee shot into the rough
(at last week’s Indonesian Masters). The forecaddie showed a green flag so I thought it was my ball. It was of the same brand and number. I only realized it wasn’t my ball when I picked it up on the next hole and didn’t see my marker.”
Another young rising star, Shaaban Hussin, will also show his skills in talent in this tournament. Hussin recently finished tied for the 20th spot in the Indonesian Masters
and is in great form these days. He is also among the top contenders to win this championship.
Experienced Airil Rizman and S. Sivachandhran are also among the list of participants. Rizman is the most experienced one who also has an Asian Tour victory under his belt. Rizman
will take advantage of playing in the home conditions and will look to dominate from the first round.
Miguel Tabuena from Philippines will also show his young talent in this four-day event. He recently became the youngest player in Indonesian Masters to make it through the cutline
score. Tabuena is a teenager and is full of talent.
All these top players will look to emerge victorious after the final round on Sunday.
The top three players on Asian Development Tour Order of Merit automatically get their Asian Tour cards for the next year.
