The Werder Bremen defender has signed a new contract with his current club which will keep him at the Weserstadion until the summer of 2014.
The German international has signed a two-year extension to his current contract at Werder Bremen and will stay at the club for another two years. The player’s current deal is until the end of the season and he has added two more
years to his deal.
Bremen’s sporting director Klaus Allofs expressed his delight on the player’s decision to stay the club and admitted that Fritz is a very important player. He added that the defender has been vital in the side’s success this season
and Bremen want to keep hold of their key players.
“Clemens is part of the fabric of the club, he's our captain and plays an important role off the pitch too. We're happy we were able to reach an agreement,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Club manager Thomas Schaaf added that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Clemens-Fritz-c9348 has been a very important player for the past few years and admitted that it is great that he has signed an extension. He insisted that the full-back has been consistent in all
his years at the Weserstadion and is hopeful that he continues his great form.
“Clemens has been playing to a very high level for years. If his consistency can rub off on the rest of the team it'll be fantastic. His experience and personality make him a very important player for us,” he added.
On the other hand, Fritz expressed his pleasure on committing his future with the German outfit and stated that he is elated with the decision. He admitted that he is happy at the club and has never thought of leaving the River
Islanders.
“I know what's required of me and I want to be part of things here. I feel at home in Bremen and had very good talks with the club, so it was easy for me to sign,” he concluded.
Clemens Fritz has made 163 league appearances for Werder Bremen and has found the net on four occasions.
