Clemens Tonnies: Schalke will not the top the table this season – Bundesliga news
Schalke chairman Clemens Tonnies believes that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ralf-c30492 Rangnick’s side are currently sitting at the top of the table with Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen.
All three teams have nine points to their account from four games. Tonnies reckons that Schalke will face trouble as the season progresses and it will be difficult for them to maintain their top spot. He further stated that the Royal Blues are going through
a rebuilding phase and require time to get back into their grove.
Schalke last won the Bundesliga in 1958, and manager Rangnick wishes to lead his side to the long awaited title this season. Rangnick believes that his side possesses the required quality and skill to take home the trophy this season. The manager was also
confident about achieving a UEFA Champions League berth at the end of the 2011/12 campaign. He agreed with Tonnies about his team’s rebuilding phase but was sure that his side will stay in the top half throughout the entire term.
The chairman, while talking to the reporters, added, "We are still going to experience setbacks. That has to be expected. But the lads are hungry and a great team is being formed and there is a great euphoria at the club that will carry us forward a fair
way, but we are not going to end the season where we are now.”
Clemens also hinted at the extension plans for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904. Tonnies further added that Raul is a special player and there is no way that the
club will part ways with the veteran striker this season.
He concluded his remarks by saying, "I am proud with every minute that Raul plays for Schalke. He is an amazing personality. We will wait to see how the season goes and then find the right moment to discuss whether he could maybe add another year on."
