After all the recent speculation regarding his transfer, the Spaniard has now hinted at extending his stay at the club, igniting a new ray of hope at the Veltins-Arena. The club President has also confirmed about the striker’s
desire as the bosses have already started preparing a new deal for the veteran attacker.
While talking to the sports website Bild.com, Tonnies further elaborated:
"All of the signals coming from Raul in recent days have been extremely positive. He has already dropped anchor in Schalke and he identifies himself with the club and the fans. He really feels happy here. I have a very good feeling."
On the other hand, Raul has told a Spanish newspaper that he hopes to put pen on paper for one final time at the club in a few weeks time. Raul’s strike partner, Huntelaar, also wants the Spaniard to extend his stay at the Veltins-Arena
and has urged him to agree to a new deal.
Both Huntelaar and Raul have been the centre of attraction at the Gelsenkirchen-based club this season, having propelled Schalke to the third spot on the table prior to going into the winter break.
