The defensive midfielder has become the fifth player from Paris Saint-Germain, who has been included in the French squad. And Chantome is more than pleased after getting his first ever call up to the national side.
While talking to reporters ahead of Les Bleus’ friendly game against Japan, the Frenchman stated that he wasn’t expected to be named in the squad at all, and to hear such an amazing news right after the game against Marseille was simply incredible.
The 25-year-old added that it was strange hearing the news, but vowed to make full use of it.
“It was a little bit strange to be told the news straight after the Clasico that I would be heading off to Clairefontaine a few hours later.”
Chantome, a product of Paris Saint-Germain youth academy, said that it’s an honour to be playing for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 and he is delighted to get this chance. The game against the Samurai Blue has provided the PSG midfielder with an opportunity to show the world what
he is capable of, and prove that he can do well at this level.
The Frenchman added that every player wants to play for his country and it’s like a dream come true for him.
“But after the initial surprise, I'm just delighted to get the chance to go to the France national team chateau. I'm incredibly proud to get this opportunity. This is a dream come true because every player dreams of playing for France.”
However, the 25-year-old is not getting carried away. Chantome knows that the competition in the national team is fierce, and he needs to bring more improvement in his game in order to cement a place in Didier Deschamps’ starting eleven.
“I hope it's just the beginning, because the idea is to keep coming back as often as possible and I'll do what I can to make that happen."
Les Bleus play Japan in an international friendly, before taking on Spain in the World Cup qualifier.
