Reports in French media claim that Ligue 1 giants, Olympique Lyonnais are very keen on extending the contract of young playmaker, Clement Grenier, who has become an integral part of Remi Garde’s side since the start of the new campaign.

Under contract at Stade de Gerland until 2014, the youngster is getting a lot of keen glances from Italian Serie A champions, Juventus. However, it appears that the player is willing to sign a contract extension. The feeling is shared by Les Gones’ management
that is keen on doing it as soon as possible.
While talking to reporters regarding the youngster’s future, club president, Jean-Michel Aulas said that his people are working things out with the player’s agent and affirmed his desire to keep hold of the highly talented playmaker.
“We’ll see a long extension for Clement Grenier. We’re counting on him at OL. We never wanted to sell him to Nice.”
And, Grenier’s agent, Frederic Guerra says that there will be a meeting between Lyon representatives and him in a bid to make sure that the player continues his career between the Rhone and Saone. However, this clearly means that if the player signs an extension,
it would mean a serious management dilemma for Remi Garde.
Yoann Gourcuff and Grenier play in the same position and until now, Garde never had any selection headaches regarding these two players as they were always injured in turn. However, now that the duo is fully fit, it appears that Garde will have to make a
choice as having two playmakers does not suit his system.
Reports claim that this could push Gourcuff towards the exit doors which means that the former Bordeaux man might be offloaded this winter as Aulas is also keen on reducing the club’s wage bill.
