Clemente Medina claims the best from Abner Mares is still to come – Boxing news
Abner Mares’ trainer, Clemente Medina, has claimed people have still not seen the best of his fighter, who is the current World Boxing Council’s Silver 118-pound Champion.
The 25-year-old Mares will step in the ring as a challenger against the current International Boxing Federation’s Bantamweight world champion, Joseph Agbeko, today on August 13, 2011 in the Bantamweight Tournament Final at the Joint at Hard Rock Hotel &
Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and Medina believes Mares will outclass Agbeko.
The undefeated Mexican pugilist, Mares, has never been defeated in the ring as he has won 21 of his 22 professional fights (1 Draw), with 13 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout. Therefore, his trainer told the media Mares knows how to fight in the
ring.
Medina claimed a lot of people think Mares has given them his best shot but they don’t know his best. Medina declared his fighter is getting better and better every day and he will earn himself the label of the best bantamweight fighter in the world.
“He’s a guy who can fight, who can box, who can do it all,” Medina said. “He’s had a lot of great fights already, but you haven’t seen the best from him. The best is still to come, believe me. He’s getting better every day and you will see that from the
first round (on Saturday).”
Mares in the meanwhile also shared his thoughts with the media. He stated he is eager to clinch the International Boxing Federation’s belt as it has been his dream.
“That’s what I want, exactly,” Mares said of the world title belt that was so tantalisingly close to his grasp. “I was looking at that belt and picturing myself with it and taking it back home.”
Mares and Agbeko were both previously scheduled in April 2011 but the fight was postponed as Agbeko was suffering from sciatica just one week before the bout was to take place but now both fighters will finally be in action tonight and let’s see if Mares
can really shrug off Agbeko in the ring.
