Cleotis Pendarvis: I want to knockout Robert Frankel and will not rush in blindly – Boxing News
Cleotis Pendarvis, the current World Boxing Foundation Intercontinental welterweight champion, recently shared his vow to nail Robert Frankel, his upcoming opponent, and commented that boxing is like a game of chess adding that I do not want to rush in blindly
as I am thinking of knocking out Robert.
Pendarvis and Frankel are scheduled to take on each other in a 12-round bout which will have Frankel’s WBC United States (USNBC) light welterweight title on the line and the vacant USBA light welterweight title up for grabs.
The ring for the bout will be set up at Warner Center Marriott in Woodland Hills, California, United States and the above duo will headline the fight card. The event is being jointly promoted by Steve Bash of Bash Boxing and Kahren Harutyunyan of Art of
Boxing Promotions and the showdown will be co-headlined by the non-title six-round bout between Tyrell Hendrix and Loren Myers.
Pendarvis recently participated in a media session and shared some of his personal life aspects in addition to promising the fact that he will give Robert the toughest time of his life.
Cleotis, 25, though is seriously overshadowed by his opponent’s experience yet is confident that he will stun the champion. Also known as the ‘Mookie’, Pendarvis has been in a total 19 bouts and emerged victorious in 14.
The young lad, who has faced a pretty harsh, tough and difficult childhood life, has converted himself into a pretty tough belligerent who can stun even some of the most respectable names in the division.
The southpaw while analysing his opponent stated, “He’s a rugged guy. He’s been in there with some of the best in the world. I know that he is going to come to fight and be in great shape. However, I’ve worked too hard to prepare myself to lose on Friday
night.”
While putting forth his resolve to knockout Robert, Cleotis commented, “I know it’s a 12 round fight, but to be honest, I do want to knock him out. I’m not going to rush in because boxing is like chess. But once he gets a taste of my power, he’s going to
want to stop.”
The bout is definitely a tough challenge for the young Pendarvis but if he proves the words he has uttered about the bout, his training, and his opponent, he will certainly climb up in the world rankings.
Moreover, Pendarvis will start his reign over the USA light welterweight division if he grabs both these titles but in order to do so he needs to step over Robert which is a huge task. Frankel has been in a total 42 bouts and boasts 30 wins with just six
via knockout.
