Clerihan Gold causes a major race upset in the Grade OR Carling Chrome 3 Steps To Victory Final
Sheffield delivered some magnificent races yesterday, 10th April, some of which were true to the given predictions, while others were upsets and surprises.
The Grade OR Universal Office Products Stayers started at 20:35 GMT.
Romeo Patrol bagged the victory in a terrific manner.
The son of Collision, out of Fabulous Airport, raced as the favourite with odds of 6 to 4 and succeeded over Ballintine Molly by an immense margin of 5 ¼ lengths.
With his brisk pace, the hound completed the 660 metre track in 39.08 seconds.
Ballentine Molly gave the race her all, but she still fell short and finished the race in 39.50 seconds.
The third place was secured by Ballyard Buddy, who completed the course in 39.54 seconds.
The Grade OR Owlerton Bookmakers Stayers – Duplicated took place a little earlier on the same track at 20:00 GMT.
The Elaine Parker trained hound, Welton Arthur, managed to beat the competition and claim the victory.
The son of Head Bound, out of Galtee Minnie, entered the race with odds of 11 to 4, and emerged victorious as he defeated race favourite, Mr. Chow by 3 ½ lengths in 39.22 seconds.
Mr. Chow, trained by C. Lund lost his composure and could not make up for the lost distance in the final stages of the race.
The third place was secured by Varra Bruno, who completed the race in 39.76 seconds.
At 21:45 GMT, the Grade OR Carling Chrome 3 Steps To Victory Final took place.
This race did not go as expected as the race favourite, Bowtime Joey, was defeated.
The £7500 prize was bagged by John Sharp’s Clerihan Gold in a glorious manner with a narrow margin.
With odds of 25 to 1, he entered as a long shot with slim chances of winning, and his victory caused an upset among the punters but it raised the morale of his connections.
The son of Goldmine Ramble, out of Goldmine Sally, demonstrated immense potential as he landed the victory over the S. Mason trained Bowtime Joey by ½ a length in 40.16 seconds.
Meadow Bank Owl, son of Westmead Hawk, out of Expert Flash, was just ½ a length short of the runner-up, completing the race in 40.24 seconds.
