Cleveland Browns' running back Montario Hardesty hopeful for recovery for Sunday – NFL News
Cleveland Browns’ running back Montario Hardesty who has suffered a calf injury said that he was hopeful for his comeback for the coming Sunday's game.
Hardesty, who has missed Browns last two consecutive games due to the injury in his right calf he suffered in their game against San Francisco on October 30, said that he might be able to recover before the Weekend's game.
He had some outdoor supervised workout last Wednesday and said he was getting there. However, he is yet to take part in full practice session with his teammates. The chances of his participation will only be determined after he
takes part in a full practice session.
"I want to play, but right now we're still working to get there," he said. "So we're just gonna keep on progressing. I've been running, just keep on progressing and see how I feel."
Browns will host Jacksonville Jaguars on the coming Sunday and if the player is unable to recover, it will his third consecutive miss out. Hardesty had already missed 2010 season due to knee surgery.
"I was getting close to full speed," he said. "I was just working on going through taking the steps, doing my change of direction, just getting back used to doing football stuff."
Meanwhile Browns coach Pat Shurmur has backed the Hardesty optimism for the recovery to participate in the weekend's game. The coach said that he expected the player to join the squad for practice some time this season.
The Hardesty injury has come as another setback for Browns, as they already missing their key starter Peyton Hillis. Hillis has missed the game for five consecutive weeks due to a hamstring injury.
They have been starting with Chris Ogbonnaya for the last two games. The coach also said that T.J. Ward would be able to play in the current season in the strong safety starting position. He had cast on his foot.
"He'll go to a walking boot and then keep continuing to improve," Shurmur said. "What we found when we took the cast off was that he'll be back."
However, Browns wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi who has sustained two concussions in 13 months was in practice and seemed recovery well. It was unclear whether he would be available for the Sunday game.
Browns are heading into week 11 of the current regular season of the American football league, National Football League (NFL).
