Cleveland Browns LB Scott Fujita keen to play after bounty-led ban -NFL News
Cleveland Browns’ linebacker, Scott Fujita, says he cannot wait to return to the field and reunite with his teammates and other members of the club.
Fujita has recently been handed down a three-game ban by the National Football League (NFL) over his alleged contribution to the covert bounty scheme.
While he denies his involvement, the suspension-led tensions have proved to be a period of an ordeal for the player.
The bounty scheme was in implementation at the New Orleans Saints when Fujita was an active member on their roster.
NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, has suspended him along with other Saints under the charge irrespective of their claims of being innocent.
He is yet to serve the ban.
Now a ruling by an arbitrator has clarified that the NFL commissioner has the authority to suspend Fujita and others on the charge. It is seen as further embarrassment for the group.
It is no surprise that Fujita wants to be away from all these worries at the earliest. He is desperate to join the team for an activity that can help him take off his mind away from all these developments.
Fujita said:
“I love my teammates (and) defensive coaches, I'm excited about our new additions, and I'm looking forward to seeing this team improve. I want to win, and I want to help this team win."
The player told a local newspaper:
"While there have certainly been some unexpected challenges this offseason, which are beyond my control right now, I can't let that distract me from getting myself as prepared as possible to play this season.”
He added:
“Obviously I'm a lot closer to the end of my career than I am to the beginning, so the time to win is now."
Fujita will participate in the team’s mandatory three-day minicamp, starting from Tuesday (June 05) and ending on Thursday (June 07).
It will be his first major activity during the offseason.
He said to be particularly excited to meet new members of the team including quarterback, Brandon Weeden, who was selected off the 2012 draft.
