Cleveland Browns QB Colt McCoy disappoints coach Pat Shurmur, trade an option now – NFL News
Cleveland Browns’ coach Pat Shurmur was disappointed over the poor display of skills by all three quarterbacks, incumbent Colt McCoy, Seneca Wallace and Thad Lewis, who were given an opportunity at place of this season’s named leader rookie Brandon Weeden
but the coach refused to show his cards as far as future of all three is concerned.
Colt who had a rare chance to prove his critics wrong was the particular regret of the coach, and the official said he was baffled to know what he wanted to do with the players after the dismal show-off.
The coach said:
"I do know what I want to do. I'm just not telling you."
He added:
"All three quarterbacks played like backups tonight. I'll just leave it at that. I can see a lot of different scenarios."
With the chances wasted Colt now feels nothing is going to work out in his favour as far as the possibility of him being traded off to another side is concerned. Still he believes he has the confidence and practice behind him to improve in the near future.
He said:
"I wouldn't say I'm worried. I've practiced well. I've improved. I feel confident."
As rightly noted by the coach, all three players are of same calibre. They have shown to be so in the game against Chicago Bears, at least. This leaves with a possibility for them being retrained for backup positions or the team can deal with Colt or Wallace
to another team in the league and leave the rest at the second and third spots.
Either McCoy or Wallace is likely to get to back up Weeden, depending on who is going to be a subject of a trade deal and who will be retained.
Colt was able to connect to only two out of five passes for 16 yards while Wallace ended up completing three of four attempts for 36 yards.
Weeden who has been named as Browns’ offence leader this season is going to start for the team in the season opener. Although he himself has looked to be shaky in the games he has started in so far, his form is far better than Colt and other quarterbacks.
