Cleveland Browns RB Trent Richardson says can’t wait for action vs Philadelphia Eagles – NFL News
Cleveland Browns rookie running back Trent Richardson says he cannot wait to be a part of the side in the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles, ruing his absence in the preseason phase.
Trent said he finds it difficult to cope with the fact he has missed the preseason phase due to a lingering knee problem. He was required to undergo an arthroscopic surgery to remove what doctors confirmed was a small cartilage from his left knee that had
been bothering him since his college league days and recently caused swelling and pain.
After having done some detailed workout over the past two days since his return to the field this Monday, the player said he is ready to take on the Eagles this weekend.
According to the RB:
"I can't stand watching preseason games without being out there. It's been a long time since I've touched a football. I've got to make sure I'm part of this team. I've got to get on that field and contribute to this team. Just watching, I was very antsy.
I had to take that time and realize this might be the best thing for my career - to get my leg right."
The desperation and frustration of the player are understandable given it has been almost a month since he had the surgery last month. He has been rated to be a player of high potential, and is expected to be a crucial member of the team’s offence, which
is led by another rookie, quarterback Brandon Weeden.
While speaking to media for the first time since his return from the knee surgery, he boasted his confidence and preparations for the game. He said:
"I was just kind of feeling like a nick. I was still running full speed."
He claimed that he had attempted to join the squad for the preseason games but was prevented by coach Pat Shurmur who was not willing to risk the problem aggravate further.
Although the scans results showed it to be a minor problem, the team and player decided to get the treatment done immediately to avoid a need of going through all this later in the season.
