Cleveland Browns aim victory vs Buffalo Bills to end 8-game winless drought – NFL Preview
The Cleveland Browns host the Buffalo Bills in Week 3 game of the season this Sunday (September 23) seeking to end the eight-game drought with a possible but difficult victory over the guests who are coming into the game with an advantage of a win after
defeating Kansas City Chiefs in the last game.
Browns rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden and rookie running back Trent Richardson stand crucial to the team’s victory chances. Weeden, who has looked shaky during his most of pro appearances so far, did well in the last game. Although the Browns lost the
game, Weeden stood out for superbly throwing for 322 yards.
If he finds a similar form in the Bills game the Browns can certainly hope for a win. The rookie, however, must be wary of Bills’ new defensive star linebacker Mario Williams, who has joined the team on a hefty payout this year. He has got all what it takes
to suffocate movement of the offensive line of opposition, and the Bills can safely rely on him.
As for Richardson, he is another class act. He is one of the rare players gifted with natural talent, and abilities and certainly has the capability of changing the team position on the points table any time.
Even with this strength, a win nevertheless will not be easy for the Browns and they will have to fight for it until very end. The Bills have a win on their back to ride on and while the Browns look to end their winless spree, the Bills too are aiming to
come out of the eight road-game gloom.
Both – the players and coaches – are confident of their chances for a win over the Browns this weekend. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is particularly upbeat about finding a new formula of possessing the ball as much as they can and then look for in-between
opportunities to score.
He says:
"I think that's a great winning formula. Looking at what we did this offseason, that's something we wanted to do: limit turnovers. And you saw with the so many additions we made, we have a dominant defense, which I think we've got a good shot at doing that."
Linebacker Mario Williams also sees a hope in the strategy and has backed it. He said:
"We had a sense of urgency. It was just different from the very beginning. We went out there and put it all on the line. Unfortunately, that didn't happen last week, but we have to build on this and continue."
Whether this strategy is effective against the Browns is yet to be seen but the Bills apparently are brimming with confidence and this is where the Browns have to target them. The Browns must go into the game with an attacking attitude and if they are successful
in utilising Weeden’s talent, the Bills will have little space to breathe and retaliate.
