Cleveland Browns beat Jacksonville Jaguars 14-10 in Week 11 game – NFL Recap
Cleveland Browns managed to preserve their 14-10 lead till end of their tie against Jacksonville Jaguars to record a win over the Jaguars on past Sunday.
The time did not allow the Jaguars rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert's pass to complete as the game time was up and Browns celebrated their win. Gabbert was in end zone but the play had been declared incomplete as they match closed.
Browns’ young quarterback Colt McCoy despite his shoulder injury threw a three yards touchdown pass to Josh Gibbs, and his score allowed the Browns to score the 14-10 lead, and they successfully managed to preserve it till the
end.
They could have managed a better lead had not Dawson missed a stunning chance to score a touchdown with almost three minutes to go to final whistle. He missed the catch.
The Browns' rightback Chris Ogbonnaya managed to rush for 115 yards and ended his draught of touchdowns by scoring one yard touchdown. The Cleveland had one 87 and 85 yards scoring drives.
The waste of last chance by the Jaguars because the match time was up had been criticised by their coach.
"It's not the ending we were looking for," said Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio. "It's not the first time this year we've had the opportunity. We're really looking for that breakout, game-winning drive. We had a chance for our quarterback
to take us down. He took us down. We were knocking on the door. We just couldn't close it out."
Meanwhile, the Browns coach, Pat Shurmur, while complimenting the offense performance he said that he always counted on their defence.
"I did trust that we would get them stopped," Shurmur said. "I trust our defence."
However, it came to a team effort at the end that ensured the Browns to manage to sustain their lead they had gained earlier.
"Everybody played their hearts out and it's about time it went our way," said Browns linebacker D'Qwell Jackson, who covered Thomas tightly on the final play. "We knew it was up to us. Right there. We had to make the play and we
did."
