Cleveland Browns’ coach Pat Shurmur expects RB Trent Richardson’s return soon – NFL News
Cleveland Browns’ coach Pat Shurmur says that running back Trent Richardson’s recovery from an arthroscopic knee surgery is on a faster track, hoping he can be expected back soon but refused to indicate an exact timeline for the RB’s return to action.
Trent went under the knife to fix the left knee problem on August 09 this year and since then has been through a consistent phase of recovery, which the coach now confirmed is well on track.
Pat said he is very optimistic about Trent’s availability for the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 09. He said there is no timeframe but the RB should be able to return action ‘soon.’
It was unfortunate for the rookie that he had to take the surgery option to fix the knee problem, which had been lingering since his college league days.
Since the procedure was an arthroscopic operation and required less time in recovery and rehab, all the concerned sides including the coach agreed that the player should get the procedure done. It was only a week into start of training camp and a few days
after he formally signed with Browns that he had to head to hospital.
According to the information available regarding the problem, the player is said to have undergone surgery twice this year. He had backing in form of the doctor’s opinion that the issue was not of a serious nature and the player should be able to get back
on the field soon.
As per the doctor’s advice, the player’s immediate pro future is not threatened by this injury and he has complete chance of returning to hundred percent fitness quickly. With Shurmur confirming that Trent has made “great progress” in rehab, the optimism
about his return to full health and fitness is far greater now.
Richardson is a rookie with great potential to become a star player on the offensive line. He is one of the bright spots out of this year’s draft, and probably the only rookie running back in the league bearing promise of a great future ahead of him.
