Cleveland Browns confirm arrest of DT Kiante Tripp on burglary charge – NFL News
The Cleveland Browns have formally acknowledged being aware of arrest of defensive end, Kiante Tripp’s on a burglary charge but declined to issue any remarks on the incident.
Kiante is being held in Georgia jail after his arrest during a burglary in an apartment in the Atlanta suburb of College Park.
Sgt. Jeff Hightower, College Park police spokesman, said they were called in by neighbours that some burglars were in the apartment.
Police said they heard the accused persons through locked front doors and then apprehended them when they tried to flee from the back.
According to the police spokesman, the property was safe and nothing was stolen from the apartment. While confirming the player to be in Fulton County Jail until Wednesday, Sgt. Jeff did not give any details around the possibility of him
being produced before the court.
In a brief note, Browns’ general manager, Tom Heckert, said they were aware of the incident but refused to give any further details around it.
Tripp, who attended the University of Georgia, was on the active roster of the team for three games in the 2011 National Football League (NFL) season.
His pro stint is almost without any special mark so far and now emergence of the latest problem appears set to hit hard his prospects.
Although no details are available around the possibility of facing a penalty if he is found guilty, Kiante definitely looks to serve a jail term. Also, he is most likely to be taken to the task by the league office.
At the moment, weighing any option on his pro prospects is a remote cry, especially with Browns most likely to part ways with him.
The situation is expected to be clearer after the player is produced before the court and he or his lawyer comes out with their official take on the case.
The 24-year old certainly faces some instability to his career in the short-term at least. He can possibly avoid an excessive jail term by entering a plea bargain. Any expected development is only a guess work at the moment and until both
sides provide detailed information about the incident, nothing can be said firm and final.
